We decided to remove the old wood stove in favor of a more efficient pellet stove. We have a ton of cut wood but have used pellet stoves in the past. The advantages of a pellet stove are many, but the ability to turn it on and off when needed is far easier to manage than starting a fire and then letting it burn down. As an alternative heat source, it’s far more superior.
We hated the red-brown brick of the hearth so Bridgett did a dark blue paint with a lighter blue white wash over the top to give it almost a soap stone treatment. We are happy with the overall appearance.

I love the new look of the brick, it makes it blend into the room better.
