Catching up

My last post was in September and it’s amazing how time flies. Best intentions aside, between work, events, and other distracts it’s difficult to keep up with the blog. Quite a bit has happened over the last few months and I’ll have some specific posts on the bigger issues in the near future (lol). We finished up the major renovation of the kitchen (upcoming post) and Bridge added two horses to our farm (upcoming post). Work on the acreage continues as we prepped for winter. It’s a little different in the valley since the weather is colder we needed to think about winterization more fully. We did manage to get out and do a few things in the fall, mainly a winery tour.

We managed a winery tour and spent some time at King Estate Winery and Sweet Cheeks Winery both local in the Eugene area. We found that while King Estate is beautiful – we link the wine and atmosphere at Sweet Cheeks better. We may be a bit biased based on their logo as well. Other noteworthy vineyards include LeVelle Vineyards and J Scott Cellars – both have tasting rooms in Eugene and in the summer events on Friday evenings.

Check out our Entertainment and Food section for a few of the local eateries we’ve explored. The highlight of fall events was a Halloween Costume party at Sweet Cheeks Winery where we dressed in roaring 20’s costumes. We were impressed by the number and quality of partygoer costumes.

As the fall came to a close, we had a no stress Thanksgiving dinner of dry aged smoked prime rib with family from Idaho. As the weather gives way to cooler temperatures and the promise of more rain, we are looking forward to a fantastic Yule and the coming of Spring.
