Quick update post, been super busy the last few weeks (the last post was in February!) Weather has turned wet – but even with the huge amount of rain, we’ve gotten these last few weeks we are looking at a lower than usual rain year.

Projects in the air for us around the grove include having replaced one side of the existing greenhouse, we have some seedling and vegetable starts standing by ready for the weather to warm up. We still have three of the six garden beds to complete and a new dog run to build.

Our most exciting project is the beehives. We attended a class at Glory Bee foods down the road from us and have built and installed two hives. Our bees arrive on April 28th for their new homes.

We are trying out a couple of different hives. One is a standard hive from Glorybee – no frills there – just two deep supers, grid base, and a telescoping top. The other is from Bespoke Bee Supply out of Portland. It’s a bit different design and we really like the style and construction. Hopefully, the bees will like both of them and we will be swimming in honey this fall. That’s not likely, however, I’ll be happy just to have them survive the year.
