Meet Frik and Frak, they are African Gray Geese. Bridgett has wanted geese, ducks, squirrels, whatever is cute and fluffy…. Lol. We haven’t seen any geese in the farm stores in the past. We got lucky (I think) and saw these at Wilco so I caved in and we bought these two. I’ll admit they are cute are far more entertaining and intelligent than chickens. They love water and Bridgett has them in the bathtub to learn how to swim.

I had concerns about geese – particularly around the aggressiveness I’ve heard about them in the past. Reading on them the white Chinese geese are most commonly aggressive and the African Geese are less so. However, they do yell at the dog and try to bully him (that is way too funny to watch).

I think if we spend time handling them, we may be ok. It will be a few months before we learn if they are male or female. See my chicken post about why we contained the chickens and now I’m concerned about geese particularly goose dung everywhere and flower beds (Geese are vegetarians, so they eat grass and as we’ve seen flowers). We are planning on building a goose house and trying to get them to live in the horse pasture away from the house eventually. Time will tell.
