Yep – part 3 of probably a few hundred. The barn renovation continues!

Barn Renovation (Part 1) – May 2019
Barn Renovation (Part 2) – September 2019

I am bound and determined to get most of the barn renovation done this year before it starts to rain. The primary focus was on enclosing the backside of the stalls. We used the sliding doors found last year with some tarps stapled up to the support beams and it worked last winter to reduce some of the wet/mud and mess. However, we needed something more permanent.

Winter stall – tarp to keep out the rain and muck
Temporary Stall Fronts – doors and tarps

My son and I worked on building up the sidewalls and back wall panels as well as re-leveling the stall base gravel. The work went quickly and while not some spectacular high dollar stable – it’s functional and with some paint will look just fine. It’s a homestead after all and we do things on a budget.

Things left to do:

  • Paint
  • Stall Mats (everyone is currently out of stock)
  • Tack room

Bridge also has an idea for the space between the top support rail and the roof – add a sheet of plastic roofing material and hinges to provide ventilation in the summer and keep water out in the winter.
