CDC Amante, is a Lusitano/Cheval Canadien gelding. Amante was born July 2, 2019, is the crossing of RL Duchesa, a buckskin Lusitano mare and Metistar Taj*Mahal Amaro a Palomino Cheval Canadien stallion. Both Duchesa and Amaro are beautiful high-quality horses with excellent backgrounds.

CDC Amante (1 year old)

Bridge is a friend with Julie Alonzo the owner/operator of Caballos Del Corazon breeder of Andalusian/Lusitano horses. Not coincidently, Julie is who introduced Bridge to the sport of Working Equitation. Stanley has been hanging out at her barn for some focused training and suggested one of her colts to Bridge as a potential new acquisition.

Amante Playing

We weren’t really looking to add another horse to the mix, but it makes sense in the aspect that one must prepare for the future. It takes a good solid 3-4 years before a young horse is rideable and well suited to new things so the timing is appropriate to work toward the successor.

Mud? what mud?

Amante is very intelligent. He has shown that he can grasp tasks quickly and can do some farily advanced things for his young age. He has done some light jumping, can sidepass, and has zero fear of bridges or platforms. He quickly desentizes to external threats and is very energetic.

I’ll just hold this down so it doesn’t walk away

He is already getting big, he stands at 15.3 hands, just a bit shorter than Stanley. We think we will be at least 16 hands before he is done growing. His coloring is a beautiful creamy-white with a white/black mane that we really hope he will keep as he grows.

Standing pretty

We will spend the next couple of years doing ground training for the basics, leading, walking, running, stopping, waiting, trailers, other horses, etc. Eventually, as he grows he will have some special training from a qualified trainer to help him reach his potential. That will likely occur in 2-3years.

Omg – what is that???
